The third eye is among the concepts that find significant resonance in mysticism. Scientific explanations tell us that it was an important organ in cold-blooded creatures at the earliest stages of evolution, due to their sensitivity to light; as evolution continued and the transition to warm-bloodedness occurred, it lost its importance and its function of relating to light was transferred to the eyes. However, scientific explanations also tell us that this remnant of the third eye, the pineal gland, plays a very important role in our lives through the melatonin and other hormones it secretes (pinoline and dimethyltryptamine). Melatonin, while being a sleep regulator, also serves as a planner for both the 24-hour cycle and the long human lifespan. Its levels are responsible for the onset of puberty and aging, or for delaying aging. Dimethyltryptamine, on the other hand, is called the "spirit hormone"; it serves as a foundation for spiritual activities. When Descartes referred to the pineal gland as the seat of the soul, he was alluding to the spiritual experiences that occur through the stimulation of this region and the secretion of this hormone. It is a highly enjoyable subject; it is possible to delve deeper.

However, the subject of this article will be about theories of the third eye continuing to evolve. Mystical discourses about the third eye claim that those who have this eye opened will have mastery over the unseen, will be able to see and hear things that ordinary people cannot, and will even perceive people in different colors depending on their emotional states. I do not know whether there have been people in the past or present who have had their third eye opened; but we must remember that in prehistoric times, the function of this organ was more primitive than it is today.

We do not know whether humanity will have enough time in this world we live in to continue evolving. Nor do we know whether evolution will be as slow as it was in the past. However, the other day, a documentary was explaining how our surroundings are now covered with electromagnetic waves that did not exist a century ago, and that these waves are everywhere even though we cannot see or hear them. We, for our part, are bringing about a communication revolution by developing devices that produce and detect these waves. Cell phones, tablets, televisions, etc., etc. Could it be that the human body might one day develop organs capable of detecting these waves without any intermediary? Or even organs that both produce and detect them? Even if not naturally, it might be possible in the future to develop a communication protocol to implant these receptors into the body and transmit the signals they receive to the brain. In other words, in the future, we will have antennas. The disgusting cliché of Turkish teenagers and teenagers-at-heart adults—"Let those who can't stand me get an antenna" (or  "let them get on my wavelength" ) —might just become reality.
